WHAT WE DO
Valuations
Several factors affect the value of an artwork. Some works become iconic. Provenance is one of the most important aspects when valuing a work but time is the greatest dealer. Other factors include the artists profile at that particular stage in their career and the general state of the art market at that given time. Values fluctuate and it is important to understand the distinction between the market value and the insurance value (replacement value) which is often higher. Our valuations include an analysis of the artists values prior to purchasing the work, current value and an opinion of where we estimate the value to be in five years time. These figures are relevant only for the specific work being valued, and are not indications of the artist’s oeuvre.
Acquisitions
Keeping abreast of artists, whether in Australia or internationally, is vital for us to offer information on whats out there. We can then facilitate the purchase of an artwork on your behalf. All art fairs announce the list of galleries and artworks in upcoming fairs and we encourage you to familiarise yourself with what’s coming up. If you can’t attend and we are going to the fair, we can act on your behalf.
Deaccessioning & Secondary Market Opportunities
If you’re downsizing, or need to dispose of a work for whatever reason, we can assist. Selling an art collection can be complex and emotional, raising questions about valuation and market trends. We can offer essential expertise in pricing, access to a broader network of buyers, and guidance on the sale process, be it auction or private treaty.
Commissions
Commissioned artworks in all mediums for public or private spaces involves proposals or expressions of interest, budgets, contracts and logistics. We have negotiated successfully commissioned portraits, sculptures for private and public spaces and can assist in these areas.
Collection Management
Once we have valued individual artworks in your collection we will review and continually assess what needs to be updated for insurance purposes yearly. We would suggest a condition report be created and reviewed every 3-5 years. We can also advise on restoration where works have been damaged or foxing has emerged on works on paper.
Transport, Installation
and Insurance
Having participated in numerous art fairs around the world, our relations with freight companies, local, interstate and internationally can be called upon to assist with all logistical needs. If you are moving home or just deciding to have a re-hang we can suggest professional help. To curate or physically install your collection. Advice on insuring your collection can be provided.
